2020 CPMEC Clinical Educator of the Year Award
The CPMEC Australia & New Zealand Clinical Educator of the Year Award has been presented anually since 2010. The award recognises clinical educators across Australia and New Zealand who have made a major contribution to the education and training of junior doctors.
Usually the jurisdictional winners and the overall winner are recognised at the annual Australian and New Zealand Prevocational Medical Education Forum. With the 2020 Forum postponed to 2021, there was a virtual ceremony this year on 24 November.
The recipient of this award is a clinical educator who fulfils more than one of the following criteria:
- Made a significant contribution to teaching of junior doctors; and/or
- Demonstrated the develoment of innovative programs and approaches to the education of junior doctors; and/or
- Made a significant contribution to mentoring and the provision of career advice to junior doctors; and/or
- Made a significant contribution to promoting the well-being of junior doctors; and/or
- Advocated for the education and training of junior doctors in the workplace and beyond, which could include contributions to a Postgraduate Medical Council (or equivalent); and/or
- Demonstrated improving education and training opportunities in rural health; and/or
- Other relevant contributions
The 2020 CPMEC Clinical Educator of the Year Award will be presented to Dr Greg Sweetman from Western Australia at the 2021 ANZPME Forum.
